Art exhibit sells and showcases student talent, students profit

A student art exhibition celebrated its opening of the “10X10” exhibit on Nov. 30 in the Art Gallery and was curated by Art Department Chair and Drawing and Painting Professor Robin Johnson.

Johnson said she wanted to have a short exhibition right before the holidays.

“Students were looking for a way to show their work and have a sales opportunity and I wanted to have more than one student exhibition in the gallery a year, so I came up with this idea of the ‘10X10’ exhibition,” Johnson said.

Campus event helps students manage stress

The Associated Students of Cosumnes River College and the Center for Inclusion and Belonging hosted a two-day Stress Relief event in the library on Nov. 28 and 29.

The women’s soccer team defeated the Santa Rosa Junior College Bear Cubs 1-0 at home on Friday winning the Big 8 Conference Championship and advanced to the CCCAA Championship match.

The Cosumnes River College men’s soccer team started a three-game winning streak before the conference playoffs after beating American River College 1-0 at home on Nov. 3.

A comedy show was held on campus on Sept. 14 to discuss mental health for National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month.

Auditions for the Greek tragedy “Electra” were held at the Cosumnes River College Black Box theatre on Aug. 21 and 22.

Theater Arts professor Martin Flynn asked adjunct art professor Janey Pintar to direct the classic Greek tragedy.

Math center offers study sessions for finals week

The math center is open Monday-Thursday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. during finals week. The center is located in the Learning Resource Center in room 205.

The Cosumnes River College women’s basketball team struggled to keep up with the American River College Beavers ending with a score of 50-29 on Jan. 20.

The Cosumnes River College campus was under lockdown for over two hours on Nov. 21.

All CRC students and staff were sent text messages, phone calls and emails about the lockdown which alerted students and staff who were on and off campus.
